About

Attorney Larry Lofgren concentrates his practice in the areas of bankruptcy and family law. He serves clients throughout King, Kitsap, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties, with offices in both Bainbridge Island and Bremerton.

Larry began practicing bankruptcy law in 1999, and by 2001 he was managing the Rockford, Illinois branch of Macey, Chern & Diab in Chicago, IL. Over the years he’s represented thousands of people with overwhelming debt in both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies. Larry also spent three years representing major credit card companies and other creditors in federal and state court. His experience on both sides of bankruptcy has given him valuable insight when advising clients. Larry is a designated debt relief agency under federal law and provides legal assistance to consumers under the Bankruptcy Code.

In 2003 Larry returned to his family’s roots in the Pacific Northwest where he expanded his practice to include family law. Since then he has helped guide clients through most areas of family law, including divorce, legal separation, child support, custody issues, parenting plans, modifications, and adoption. He is certified as a Title 26 Guardian Ad Litem and is qualified to represent the best interests of children in custody cases.

Prior to practicing law, Larry spent a summer living with a Guatemalan family and studying Spanish in Quetzaltenango. He also lived in Madrid, Spain for a year, and later traveled throughout seven South American countries teaching English. He speaks fluent Spanish and has enjoyed serving Spanish-speaking clients his entire career.

Larry began his professional career with the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois as Intake Director where he represented clients’ interests and recruited, trained, and supervised law school interns. He currently volunteers with the local Rotary Club, Kitsap Legal Services, King County’s Volunteer Legal Services, and the Kitsap Immigrant Assistant Center. He is active in both the King and Kitsap County Bar Associations. Larry lives on Bainbridge Island with his teenage son and enjoys biking, traveling, backpacking, skiing, and playing clarinet and saxophone.

Larry Lofgren’s reputation is one of a dedicated, thorough, nonjudgmental attorney who is very knowledgeable about bankruptcy and family law.

Larry holds a B.A. from the University of Illinois and a J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law.

Should I File Bankruptcy?

If you’ve suffered a financial set-back, you may be enduring mounting debt, harassment from creditors, or even the threat of losing your home, car, or other personal property. Filing for bankruptcy can bring peace of mind and allow you to pursue a fresh start. Once a bankruptcy petition is filed, creditors will no longer be allowed to contact you and collection activities must stop, including garnishment of wages, foreclosures, debt collection lawsuits, repossessions, or bank account holds. You will often be able to keep your home and other assets. With renewed confidence you can look forward to a promising future once again.

Nearly 20 years’ experience representing thousands of clients—both creditors and debtors—has given me a thorough knowledge of both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy laws. I will guide you through your options to determine which form of bankruptcy is right for you, what assets you will be able to keep, and the best pathways you can take to begin rebuilding your credit.

My clients receive personalized advice and honest, professional representation without judgment or pressure. I keep my costs and overhead very low and I pass that savings onto my clients.  Contact me today to set up a free consultation.

In addition to providing other legal services, I am a designated debt relief agency under federal law and provide legal assistance to consumers under the Bankruptcy Code.
