About

Bankruptcy and Family Law
Attorney Larry Lofgren concentrates his law practice in the areas of bankruptcy and family law. He serves clients throughout King, Kitsap, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties.

I offer years of experience combined with personalized, friendly and understanding representation. I’ve helped thousands of people get a fresh start in bankruptcy since 1999. For years I worked at larger firms in Chicago and Seattle. Now I have my own small practice on Bainbridge Island, where my clients enjoy being able to speak with me directly, honestly and easily.

I managed a fast paced Seattle branch of a multi-state firm. Before that, I represented creditors for a few years after first moving to Seattle in 2003 so I’ve worked in bankruptcy from both sides. I am experienced with Chapter 7, Chapter 13, business issues and litigating adversarial proceedings, including student loan discharge cases.

I have had ties to western Washington my whole life. My parents grew up in Bremerton and I was born in Tacoma. I worked in Chicago for over 10 years before moving back to the Pacific Northwest with my family in 2003. My son and I moved to Bainbridge Island in 2013.

My goal when entering law school was to help real people, not big institutions. After law school, I moved to Chicago looking for public interest work. I got my start practicing law at the American Civil Liberties Union of Chicago.

During my time in Chicago I took a year off to teach English in Madrid. I already spoke Spanish but living in Madrid with Spanish and Latin American roommates provided me with deep Spanish language skills. I have helped many Spanish speaking clients my whole legal career. After passing the bar exam, I spent the summer living with a Guatemalan family and studying Spanish in Quetzaltenango.

Currently I live on Bainbridge Island with my teenage son. I am active in the local Rotary Club. I also volunteer with the Beacon Food Forest and Friends of Bainbridge Island Trails. Activities my son and I enjoy together include biking, traveling, backpacking, skiing and playing clarinet and saxophone.
